STOURBRIDGE welterweight Sam Eggington is looking to power his way back into British title contention with victory over Birmingham rival Frankie Gavin this Saturday.

The pair will meet at Birmingham's Barclaycard Arena in front of the Sky Sports Cameras.

Eggington and Gavin were scheduled to meet for Eggington’s British and Commonwealth titles last October but injury to Gavin set their careers on different paths.

Gavin was forced onto the side-lines through issues outside the ring but teamed up with Max McCracken and, like Eggington, returned to action in July in Leeds to set up their hotly-anticipated fight.

With Eggington desperate to regain his British title and Gavin plotting a route back to World title contention, there’s plenty at stake for both men – not least bragging rights in the second city.

“I’m delighted that the fight with Frankie is finally here,” said Eggington.

“I want to get that British title back and win it outright, and I know that I need a good win to get back into contention.

“I can’t wait to get in there with him."
