DUDLEY Kingswinford made sure their was no hangover from the festive break as they put local rivals Wolverhampton to the sword.

DK secured their seventh straight victory with a 34-13 success at Heathbrook last Saturday to keep the heat on the three sides above them in Midlands One West.

They will now look to push themselves well into the promotion picture when they go to second-placed Bournville this Saturday. That will quickly be followed by the visit of third-placed Burton a week later.

DK go into the vital double in fine form following the Wolverhampton win.

Director of rugby Neil Shillingford said: "It was a case of job done. The players were well up for the challenge and we felt we owed them one after we lost the reverse fixture.

"It was important we picked up where we left off before the Christmas break because it is amazing how quickly the ring rust and creep in.

"But we soon got back into our stride and made sure we kept the scoreboard ticking over.

"Another pleasing think was how we managed the ref much better, which is something we have improved massively as the season has gone on. We got on the wrong side of him early in the second half but put that right as a group.

"I would have been disappointed if we hadn't have picked up the bonus point but in the end we got everything we wanted."

Shillingford admits the next two games will have a big say in what his side can achieve this season.

He added: "Anything is possible now. Bournville slipped up last weekend but wont read anything into that because on any given week they can have a few players missing.

"I'm sure they will have a strong side out this Saturday and will want to put on a big performance against us, especially because we are the form side of the division.

"We are now 10 points off the team above us and that is very much achievable. We can really put ourselves in the play-off mix with good results from the next two games. It's an exciting time."

Shillingford should have a strong side to pick from for the Bournville clash after most players came through the Wolverhampton test unscathed.
