STOURBRIDGE boss Gary Hackett was pleased with Stour's clinical finishing as they secured back-to-back home wins in the space of three days to keep their promotion bandwagon rolling.

The Glassboys bounced back from the previous weekend's defeat at Sutton Coldfield by putting Coalville Town and Ashton Untied to the sword at Amblecote.

A brace from Luke Benbow last Saturday handed them a 2-0 win before that was quickly followed on Monday night when Kayelden Brown's double and strikes from Tom Tonks and Jordan Archer saw them beat Ashton 4-1.

The victories also came despite a long list of injuries at the War Memorial Ground.

Hackett was pleased after Monday night's success, saying: "It was a horrible night but we had a crowd of over 500, which is superb. I would image it was a very entertaining game to watch.

"We could have scored seven or eighth and they could have scored four as well. But we were very clinical going forwards. Our front four were a handful for them all night and they struggled to cope with that.

"The early goal was important. They had to play a little differently when they have to chase a game and had to throw a bit of caution to the wind.

He also praised two-goal hero Brown, adding: "Kayelden is a great guy, very unassuming, very modest but does a great job for the team. It's great that he's had that little bit of recognition with two goals."

The manager has now moved quickly to snap up defender Kieren Westwood from Stratford Town.

Westwood, who won the player of the season award for Town last term, has linked up with the Glassboys to ease their injury woes.

The left back can also operate further forward to give Hackett even more options.

The boss said: "Since the Wycombe game we have lost Kristian Green, Dan Scarr, Jack Duggan, Junior (Smikle) has left and Conor Gater has had to go back to Worcester.

"Stuart Pierpoint has come in with Chris Knight and done magnificent jobs. I do know I still need to get some faces in because I've got Chris Knight unavailable for two weeks now so it's going to be tough.

"We have signed Kieren Westwood and I'm hoping we'll have a centre half in by the end of the week."

Stour will go to Grantham Town this Saturday before league leaders Blyth Spartans head to Amblecote a week later.

"They are all big games now and we have to make sure we are ready for it. Our recent run of form is very good and we are scoring goals now."

The manager confirmed that defender Jack Duggan will be missing for at least six weeks after dislocating his shoulder against Coalville.
