THERE were big celebrations in the Dynamo Dudley camp this week as they successfully retained the Redbox Signmakers Beacon Championship crown.

And it was a proud moment for player-manager Alex Perry who netted the all important winner as Dynamo secured their third title in four seasons.

Dynamo's last-match 2-1 away win at lowly Shere Punjab was enough for the former to lift more silverware and just edge out nearest rivals Bushbury Rovers, who take the runners-up trophy, finishing just a point adrift in what has proved a keenly contested championship battle.

Afterwards, delighted boss Perry, who took over the reins at the start of this season, warned the rest of the league that his charges were now looking to claim a second successive clean sweep of league honours to repeat last term's triple-winning glory.

However, Perry was first to admit that last-match opponents Shere Punjab made his side work hard for Sunday's triumph. "They certainly had a game plan and it worked early on," said Perry, whose side trailed after 15 minutes to a Dylan Sanghera opener.

Dynamo eventually got back on level terms, five minutes from the break, when Aaron Lloyd netted with a near post volley.

The visitors knew they needed a second goal to thwart Bushbury's challenge and it was Perry who stepped up to the stage on the hour mark and found the target with a firm header from close range, much to the delight of the Dynamo camp.

Bushbury have pushed Dynamo all season and closed their campaign on an impressive note, crushing Pendeford 8-0, with hat-tricks from Kyle Matthews and Simon Stokes.

Meanwhile, Pensnett Panthers let slip a 2-0 advantage at home to Old Cross and had to settle for a draw. But the Panthers can still finish in third spot if they defeat Pendeford in their final league game.
