DUDLEY boxer Sahil Khan has fought his way to a Midlands title.

Khan, who trains at Merridale Boxing Club, Wolverhampton, stopped his latest opponent in 40 seconds last Sunday.

He is now in the number one position in his weight category in the entire Midlands.

He is now working hard to compete in the quarter finals in the National Championships and is targeting a final victory in his weight category.

Khan said: "I'm thankful to all the people who attended my fight, Merridale Boxing Club the Dudley community and my family."

Dad Ifraz Khan added: "This is a start of a prosperous journey and as usual the hope is that he brings all the achievements back to Dudley and one day represent Dudley (Midlands) at a world stage.

"Sahil's training is vigorous and strenuous at times, however I would much rather him stay within an arena of sports in this case boxing, as sports is the positive way for young people and children. I would advise all parents to support their children in any sport they choose.

"Thank you to the entire Midlands and Dudley people or supporting my son and as a family we are humbled and grateful to all."
