NOAH Sandland from the Junior section of Black Country Triathletes was the only competitor from the club who raced in the Burntwood Aquathlon this weekend, but he came home smiling as he finished third in his age group and won the bronze medal.
Sandland, racing for the first time in the TS3 age group, completed a 400m swim in 5.58 followed by a 3km run in 15.31 giving an overall race time of 21.29.
On Saturday, the club held a training triathlon training day for all new members and novices who have entered the BCT Sprint Triathlon in April.
BCT qualified coaches were on hand at Wombourne Leisure Centre to give advice and support to all those new to the sport in all three major disciplines and the ‘fourth’ discipline – transition, where competitors switch from swim to bike and bike to run.
The athletes will have their first chance to put their new skills to the test in the BCT Aquathlon which is on Saturday, March 25, at Wombourne Leisure Centre.
There are races for both adults and juniors, full entry details can be found on www.blackcountrytriathletes.com and is open till the March 18.
