HAVING booked third place in the final league standings on Saturday, Stourbridge make a swift return to action this evening (Monday) as they host Workington in the play-off semi-finals at the War Memorial Ground (7.45 pm kick off).

The Glassboys will be hoping it will be a case of third time lucky in their bid to reach step two of the non-league pyramid after twice missing out in the play-offs in 2013 and 2014 in their Southern League days.

Both sides come into this fixture in a rich vein of form. Gary Hackett’s men are six games unbeaten and have won their last four league games, while their Cumbrian opponents have enjoyed a tremendous April, reeling off six victories in a row before drawing with Sutton Coldfield on Saturday.

The Reds have also tightened up their defence, keeping six successive clean sheets.

Stourbridge defeated Workington 5-0 at Amblecote back in November, but more recently the Glassboys went down to a 3-1 loss at Workington last month.

Brad Birch is the only new injury doubt for Stourbridge as they seek to secure a place in Saturday’s final where they would take on either Spennymoor Town or face a quick re-match with Nantwich Town.

The tie must be settled on the night with extra-time and then penalties, if required, to determine the winner.

Admission prices for tonight’s all pay match are £10 adults, £7 senior citizens (65 and over), £7 juniors aged 17/18 and all schoolchildren £3.

Season tickets, flexi-tickets and other passes are not valid for the play-offs and the club’s usual offer of free admission to juniors under 11 is not permitted under league rules.
