DUDLEY amateur boxer Sahil Khan secured victory at the International Box Cup in Hull.

Kates Hill fighter Khan won in the 50kg category on June 11 to again enhance his reputation even further.

He represents Merridale ABA Boxing Club and over the past year has achieved some big milestones, such as winning two international tournaments, winning a Midlands title and only just losing out in the national finals.

This latest victory has cemented his place amongst the top prospects within the ABA amateur boxing arena.

Khan stopped his first opponent in under 30 seconds and in the final won by a unanimous decision to take home the gold.

Khan said: "Thank you too all my trainers, Kad, Mick, Zabeer and Paul. I’m grateful that my father and family have supported me throughout my journey. The community of Dudley and the Midlands are so good to me, I can't wait till I represent England for all of them."

Father Ifraz Khan added: "As usual, Sahil is a humble young boy and his maturity this year has managed to earn him respect amongst the community in Dudley and the West Midlands and also amongst the amateur boxing circle in England. This win was emotional for the family and I’m thankful to all the support received from Dudley and the entire Midlands."
