STOURBRIDGE'S promotion hopes hit a set-back with an eight-wicket defeat at home to Stratford-upon-Avon.

Stour perhaps inadvertently played into the hands of their visitors Stratford when offering a spinning surface.

Stour was skittled out‎ for 131 in the 46th over. Youngster Jujhar Johal was the only one to show any resistance scoring 79 off 112 balls batting at three.

Spinner Perry Derrick celebrated by topping the bowling with six wickets for 43 off 14 overs.

Boosted by a low target Stratford openers John Price (41) and Adam Bayliss (59) not out produced a winning platform as the surface offered very little to Stour's main paceman Jade Richter.

Two nicks through the slip cordon to the boundary was the only reward for the luckless Richter.

Spinner Dominic O'Reilly had Price lbw and Rob West caught behind for 20.

Number four David Baily was not out on six and completed the easy win with Bayliss in the 26th over.

Stour will look to reignite their promotion push when they host Worcester Nomads at the War Memorial Ground this Saturday (noon start).
