YELTZ boss John Hill is targeting more arrivals at the Grove before the month is out.

Halesowen have started the campaign with one win and one defeat from their first two games.

They suffered a 3-1 loss at Workington on the opening days before bouncing back well to bag a late 1-0 home win over Barwell on Tuesday night.

Luke Shearer netted in the third minute of injury time against Barwell after being set up by Ronald Agbor's thrilling break to get Hales up and running.

Hill bolstered his squad ahead of the first game by bringing in midfielders Jack Alexander and William Mellors-Blair.

However, the manager at the Grove is determined to strengthen his option further now the campaign is in full swing.

He said: "We know we need to strengthen and myself and Matt Clark (assistant) are looking to bring in more players over the next two or three weeks if possible.

"Soon there will be another batch of players available that maybe aren't getting the games they thought they would be after summer moves. We'll see if we can pick up one or two of them.

"Hopefully that means the players we have will keep fighting to make sure they keep their place with that in mind."

Hill was pleased with Town's first win, especially after the disappointment of losing the first game.

He said: "On the opening day, everyone is optimistic and expectations are high but it was a bit of a damp squib for us.

"We were soon 3-0 down and six weeks of hard work is undone in just 20 minutes.

"But we travelled for five-and-a-half hour before the game on Saturday though, which does make life difficult. It's not an excuse because we weren't at our best and didn't defend our box well enough but we do have to bear that in mind.

"All we could do is react in the right manner against Barwell and we did that.

"We were good in the first half but went flat in the second and looked a big leggy and had to change things. But we stuck at it and got the winner after a brilliant breakaway.

"There are a lot of strange results in this league already because it is so tight again. You want to get off the mark as soon as you can and we have managed that. Now we have to try and build on it."

Hales will take on Farsley Celtic at the Grove this Saturday (3pm kick-off) before a trip to Hednesford Town next Tuesday night.

Lee Chilton (ribs) and Mellors-Blair (illness) missed the Barwell win but could return this weekend.
