HIMLEY captain Greg Wright says his side won't stop believing they can still secure an unlikely promotion this season.

Defeat against Barnards Green last Saturday has left Himley in mid-table with some catching up to do on the top sides in Division One of the Birmingham and District League.

Ryan Tongue's 121 and a solid 54 from fellow opener Andy Ford had the home side on the back foot as Green wracked up 276 after being put into bat.

Himley couldn't respond with the bat and fell to 192 all out despite Nipun Karunanayake contributing 80.

However, with just 36 points separating the top six teams, it's still all to play for heading into the final weeks of the campaign.

Wright said: "We were never at the races against Barnards Green and they have some good players that can hurt you in the win-lose format.

"The toss didn't make much difference on a good surface but we just didn't bowl well at all, were sluggish in the field and dropped the guy who got 121 at least twice.

"Their score of 276 was too big and we were relying on them to bowl and field as poorly as we did.

"But until it's not possible, we'll still keep believing we can do it.

"It's a really positive week for the club with the Black County T20 and hopefully we can carry some of that enthusiasm into next weekend.

"We won't stop believing in ourselves and even though we have a lot to do things can change quickly."

They face Bridgnorth away on Saturday before Shifnal arrive at Stourbridge Road next Monday.

Meanwhile, the club's annual week-long Black Country floodlit T20 competition is now up and running once more.

Hosts Himley, Brewood, Wolverhampton, a Staff Clubs side, Stourbridge and Halesowen will all contest the JW Brandrick President's Trophy every night this week with matches at 5.30 and 7.40pm.

The final will be held this Friday at 6.30pm. Follow Black Country floodlit T20 on facebook or @Bcountryt20 on Twitter for more details.
