How they rated:

Stourbridge 1, Halesowen 2

Stourbridge:

Gould: Made a good save from John McAtee's first half free kick but has had better afternoons. Couldn't do much about Dan Udoh's first and was slightly unlucky with the second. He bravely dived at the feet of McAtee only to see the ball ricochet into Udoh's path to roll it home. 7.

Christophorou: Solid showing in the first half and did make some good runs forward, setting up Aaron Forde's early chance. Dived in but didn't win it as Udoh raced away to bag the opener. Replaced early in the second half by Josh Green. 6.

Pierpoint: Filled the left back slot in the absence of Darryl Westlake and ever the willing worker. Didn't have much to do as Hales defended deep but his distribution could have been better. Did win a host of strong headers in the second half. 6.

McCone: Given a difficult afternoon by the excellent Udoh. At the heart of a defence that was twice exposed on the counter attack. Did see one header saved in the second half after he'd got up well to meet a corner. 6.

Duggan: Not a lot to do throughout due to Halesowen's defensive tactics. Another who gives everything but couldn't quite get back to stop Udoh's opener. Rattled the bar in the first half with a powerful effort from close range. Thrown up front in the closing stages as the home side looked for a leveller. 6.

Forde: A bright spark for the home side from a frustrating afternoon. The midfield was packed but he looked Stour's main creative threat. Saw one early effort somehow tipped round the post by Platt and created Duggan's effort again the bar. 7.

Dodd: A disappointing afternoon for the winger. Time and time again his final ball let him down. His side were in desperate need of an attacking spark. Did win the free kick for Stour's goal but cut a frustrating figure, especially because of what he is capable off when on-song. 6.

Broadhurst: His free kick was turned in by Rowe as the hosts looked for a way back. Enjoyed more space to operate in the second half but couldn't hurt Hales despite having the possession. 6.5.

Rowe: Diverted the ball home for the Glassboys' goal but struggled to cause the Yeltz back line enough problems before and after that. The visitors defended well and kept him quiet. 6.5.

Devarn Green: Lively in the first half but like Dodd he drifted out of the contest as Halesowen dropped deep to defend their lead. One of the players Stour looked to to break down the Yeltz rearguard but it never happened. 6.

Tonks: Another who just couldn't take advantage of the the time and space in front of the Halesowen defensive unit. Let the ball bounce behind him and got turned in the build up for Udoh's first. 6.5.

Subs:

O'Callaghan: Came on for the last 20 minutes but again could provide the spark Stour required. Did drill on good effort just past the post not long after his introduction. 6.

Josh Green: Slotted in at left back as Stour looked for more support for Devarn Green in the second half. Looked to get forward but couldn't change the pattern. 6.

Cook: Replaced Rowe with 20 minutes left on the clock. Worked hard but again struggled to open up Halesowen's stubborn defence. 6.

Used subs: Kiembi, Jeavons.

Halesowen:

Platt: A really good performance from the Yeltz keeper. Kept out Forde's early effort and made a quick-fire double save early in the second half. Collected well and vital for his side's derby success. 8.

Thomas: Showed a lot of energy to fill the right wing-back role. A more defensive role than an attacking one today as Yeltz dropped deep for long spells. 7.

Morrison: Part of the back three that nullified the Glassboys for long spells. Well positions to make a host of key interceptions. 7.5.

Finney: Worked hard in midfield to keep Stour at bay. Dropped in to cut out the space and frustrate the hosts. Didn't offer too much going the other way but knew his responsibilities. 6.5.

Smith: Another key element of the back three that defended like their lives depended on it. Won key headers and always on hand to clear the lines. 7.5.

Charlton: The experienced campaigner will have the loved the defensive duties he had to show today. A vital element of the back line that kept Stour at bay. 7.5.

Woodhouse: Like midfield partners Bragoli and Finney, he was disciplined and made sure he slotted in to make life hard. 6.5.

Bragoli: Hard-working showing from the Halesowen skipper. Quick to press in the first half and made some key challenges to break up play in the second period. 7.

Udoh: Two goals from two thrilling counter attacks from the strong and pacy forward. A willing runner that defended from the front as well as offering the Yeltz a focal point in attack. Took his first goal well and supported strike partner McAtee well for the second. Always a threat to the Stour back line. 9.

McAtee: An impressive showing from the attacker. Played slightly deeper that Udoh but linked up well with him for the second. Had one free kick saved by Gould and showed the composure on the ball needed, especially with his side starved of possessions. 7.5.

Kelly: Filled the left wing-back role and did well to keep the shackles on Matt Dodd. Dropped in to the back line to make things difficult for the hosts. Another disciplined performance. 7.

Subs:

Agbor: Replaced Udoh for the final 20 minutes. Did okay and worked Gould with one late effort. 6.5.

Goddard: Replaced Woodhouse late on to offer fresh legs for the closing stages. 6.

Lewis: Replaced Kelly for the final 15 minutes and again slotted in to help close down the space and see out the win. 6.

Unused subs: Spray, Diop.
