BOSS Andy Wyton was left to rue missed opportunities as Cradley Town slipped to defeat against Wolverhampton Casuals last Saturday.

The Hammers lost 5-2 at home as clinical finishing, especially from the hat-trick hitting Liam Hughes, proved the difference.

Dreniz Bala and Josh McKenzie netted in vain for the hosts but McKenzie also missed a first half penalty as Town failed to convert their best chances in front of goal.

Wyton said: "The scoreline doesn't reflect the game because I don't think we played that badly.

"Our big problem was that we didn't take our chances. We had enough opportunities but passed them up too often.

"It was also an uncharacteristic defensive performance from us. Normally we are strong at the back but we let too many in. It's a bad combination."

Cradley don't have a game this Saturday but return to action in the BCFA Midweek Floodlit Cup at home to Atherstone Town next Tuesday (7.45pm).

Meanwhile, Wyton says he's keen to freshen up his squad with a few new faces.

He added: "I think it does need freshening up a little and I'd like to strengthen the spine of the side.

"I don't want players to start resting on their laurels and will be looking for a central defender, central midfielder and a striker."
