ASSISTANT manager Matt Clarke says the Yeltz are determined to make sure their recent wins prove no false dawn.

Halesowen picked up much-needed victories over local rivals Stourbridge and Hednesford at the start of the month but then lost to leaders Altrincham last Saturday and Romulus in the league cup on Tuesday night.

They suffered a 3-0 defeat at the Northern Premier League pacesetters and lost 4-3 on penalties after drawing 1-1 with Romulus.

However, Clarke isn't too concerned by the successive league and cup defeats and thinks this Saturday's home clash with Lancaster City will have more baring on their push to build momentum heading into the winter months.

He said: "Altrincham are the side I'm tipping to win this league. They are the best team we have played and it was always going to be a tough ask.

"That said, we did well in the first half and created a few chances again. If we'd have taken one of them then who knows how the game may have changed.

"We said after the Stourbridge game that our season started there and we have then backed it up quickly against Hednesford.

"We now want to make sure that wasn't a false dawn and that means Saturday's game against Lancaster is huge for us.

"They have started well and will have designs on making the play-offs but we are at home and will be targeting the win. We know that if we're right and on it then we are capable of getting another positive result.

"We have played all the top sides this season and not had an opportunity for a while to take on sides near us."

The Yeltz side that took on Romulus featured a number of youth and academy players and was depleted further due to injuries to key first team players on the night.

Roland Agbor, star man Dan Udoh and Brad Lewis all had to be withdrawn.

forward Agbor, defender Dominic Smith and suspended skipper Dan Bragoli will all miss this Saturday's visit of Lancaster but Udoh should be able to feature. Lewis will have a hamstring injury assessed.

Udoh was withdrawn only as a precaution after picking up a mild concussion.

Clarke confirmed that he and manager John Hill are still searching for fresh faces and hope to get at least one new addition over the line before the weekend.
