HALESOWEN Town have added former West Bromwich Albion star Richard Sneekes to the club's backroom staff.

Sneekes comes in as first team coach at the Grove and replaces Kieron Jackson.

Amsterdam-born Sneekes brings with him a wealth of experience as a player, coach and manager and became somewhat of an instant cult figure at West Bromwich Albion when he signed for them from Bolton Wanderers in 1996 for £400,000 scoring 34 goals in over 250 appearances.

His coaching and management career began as Assistant Academy Coach at Tamworth before being unveiled as first team coach at then League Two side Hereford United in 2011.

His first management role came in 2014 when he took over first team manager duties at Rushall Olympic before taking a similar role at Sutton Coldfield Town in late 2016.

He now replaces Kieron Jackson, who is moving aside due to not being able to give the role the attention it demands, but will still remain part of the backroom set up.

Boss John Hill said "We are delighted to have such an experienced and respected person as Richard on board, it can only serve to enhance our chances of improving our performances and results.’’
