"IT must be bad if the badgers don't even turn up!" said frustrated Dudley Town boss Dean Whitehouse when more pitch problems hit the Dell at the weekend.

The Robins had their game against Malvern Town called off due to a waterlogged surface last Saturday.

The postponement comes just as they had got back to their Brierley Hill home after being forced to play at the Handrahan Ground in Wall Heath due to badgers digging up the playing surface.

Town were keen to build on their win over Pegasus Juniors the weekend before and gather some momentum for their West Midlands Premier League survival fight.

However, it was another disappointing afternoon to the annoyance of manager Whitehouse.

He said: "We are really struggling at the Dell at the moment.

"We are going to have a lot of games to play at the end of the season and really hoped that the game would be on.

"The pitch is not in a good condition though and someone will get hurt playing on there sooner or later. From that point of view it is understandable that the game wasn't on but you do think that maybe more could be done.

"It's the wide areas that are the worst. It must be bad if the badgers don't even turn up!

"We are trying to build something at the club and not being able to play on the pitch isn't helping with that.

"Our hands are tied a little because we are reliant on Dudley Council to do the work that's needed at the times that they can do it.

"We can't tell our own groundsman to put some extra work in like other clubs. There are also a lot of other teams that play on it as well.

"Hopefully things will improve this week and we can get back in action this weekend."

Dudley will now welcome Wolverhampton Casuals this Saturday (3pm kick-off).
