DUDLEY Town boosted their survival chances with a big mid-week win at ShifnalTown.

The Robins won 3-1 away last Wednesday and remain outside the West Midlands Premier League's bottom two despite Saturday's 3-0 loss at leaders Wolverhampton Sporting.

They have now leapfrogged rivals Dudley Sports ahead of this Saturday's trip to face fifth-placed Wednesfield.

Manager Dean Whitehouse is pleased with how his side continues to develop at such a key time in the season.

He said: "It was a good win against Shifnal. We played well and could have had a few more if we'd have taken our chances.

"The game against Wolverhampton Sporting was more about showing how far we have come.

"We played well again but in the end it was their class that told.

"The players are getting used to what we want now and are getting better all the time.

"We have given ourselves a chance of staying up and just need to keep improving and making sure we stick to what we've been doing."

Dudley are likely to be without injured duo James Bland and James Thompson this weekend.
