DUDLEY Kingswinford are now in the hunt for a home play-off game after securing derby day bragging rights over Stourbridge Lions.

DK won 40-18 at Stourton Park last Saturday to maintain their fine form heading towards the last weeks of the campaign.

The win also means Neil Shillingford's men can still secure a home play-off game against Midlands One East counterparts Syston should they bag bonus point wins in their final two fixtures.

In that case the play-off game would take place on Saturday, May 12.

However, they would need leaders Burton to slip up at Moseley Oak this weekend to give them an outside chance of top spot.

The director of rugby at Heathbrook said: "Our aim now is to take bonus point wins from the last two games and get ourselves a home game in the play-off.

"We want to keep winning games and build some momentum.

"We were a little concerned about player absence with the games coming so late but a few people have changed their plans now so we should be okay.

"A home play-off could be a big bonus so that'll be our aim."

DK now go to relegation-threatened Melbourne this Saturday before hosting Lutterworth a week later.

"Melbourne will be relegated if we beat them so it is going to be a tough game for us," added the coach. "They will be fighting for their lives so we can't take them lightly."

Should DK slip up at Melbourne then there's a chance their final regular season game at home to Lutterworth wouldn't need to be played.

On the victory over Stourbridge Lions, Shillingford said: " It was a typical derby in the first half and we fell into the trap of trying to smash our way through rather than playing our rugby.

"Once we figured that out and played rugby in the second half we were able to pull away. It's nice to take the bragging rights."
