OLD Hill skipper Jonathan Wright has called for his side to find more consistency with the bat after they were saved from defeat by the rain last weekend.

Wright's men got something from their home clash with Stratford after rain halted the away side's run chase.

Old Hill had made 147 after being put into bat with Ravi Nagra top scoring with a solid 64.

Stratford were cruising on 108-1 after losing opener Dexter Purser (52) when they had to settle for a winning draw.

Wright said: "We had a biblical rain shower that actually saved us from defeat, which was a slight bonus.

"It was a disappointing batting performance and we struggled to reach the total we eventually set.

"They did well and were going along well until the rain came. They certainly deserved the majority of the points they got from the game.

"We now need to make sure we get back to winning ways to keep in touch with the top four.

"Our biggest issue has been our consistency with the bat. We have managed to form partnerships and done well but we seem to do it for two or three games and then slip up.

"We now need to just step up a little and take a bit more responsibility.

"We always believe that if we get our game right that we're a match for anyone, but it's such a competitive league that if you're not on your game then you will get punished."

Old Hill will now take on Redditch away this Saturday.

They will be without in-form Nagra but are hoping Duncan Willetts will be fit to cover his absence.
