DUDLEY Town got their pre-season preparations off to a winning start against Halesowen Town.

The Robins beat the Yeltz 4-2 last Saturday thanks to goals from Lewis Worley, James Bland and two trialists.

It was the first friendly of Dudley's pre-season and will be followed by a game against Worcester City at York Road on Wednesday, July 18.

Home games against Sporting Khalsa and Bustleholme take place on July 21 and 28 respectively.

Manager Dean Whitehouse is pleased with how his squad is shaping up.

He said: "It was nice to get a win from our first friendly but we won't be reading anything into that at all.

"Both teams had a few trialists and we certainly won't get carried away.

"Everything is going well. We've been able to keep most of the youngsters from last season and will now look to add to them.

"We'll look at trialists and see who is going to be available."
