IN the Worcestershire County League's Division One 1st XI there was little change at the summit as long-time leaders Stourport beat last week's third placed team Worcester with a solid all round team performance.

Second placed Bewdley, thanks to Simon Mauger (82) and Ash Fearnall (76), posted a first innings total that proved well out of the reach of lowly Pedmore.

Evesham remain in third following a comprehensive fifty run victory at Cookley, Chaddesley climbed to fourth following a demolition job on basement side Burghill, Feckenham are now mid table just a couple of points behind Hagley after beating them by six wickets at Hagley Park.

Colwall eased to an extremely comfortable win following a poor first innings batting performance by Worcester Nomads, who remain on the slide.

Division Two 1st XI continues to look like it might be an excellent race for the title as not much more than a maximum points win separates the top six.

Oldswinford are looking like favourites as a fine century from Joe Siddaway and 5-31 from Tom Blunt led them to a comfortable victory in the top of the table clash against Bromyard who slipped to fourth.

Coombs Wood smashed over four hundred at Kempsey thanks to centuries from Wasim Ashiq (131*) and Gulham Abbas (130) to win by nearly three hundred runs and Robert Hawk took 6-31 in the second innings for Belbroughton against Bartestree to back up a fine first innings batting performance led by Peter Margetts (85).

In other matches Droitwich seem to be finding form at the right time of the season as they amassed over three hundred in the first innings at the Kings School to beat Old Vigornians by a comfortable margin.

Enville beat Himbleton by five wickets on the road and Bredon slipped further off the pace after suffering a resounding loss by nine wickets at lowly Wormelow

It will take a strong finish by someone to overturn Lye in Division Three 1st XI as the in-form leaders pulled over forty points clear of the chasing pack following a five wicket home win over Hanley Castle & Upton.

Rushwick bounced back into second place after beating Five Ways Old Edwardians by nine wickets, swapping positions again with Alvechurch who were soundly beaten at home by over one hundred runs by Avoncroft who continue to climb the table.

Elsewhere, Jonathan Boukhobza scored 89 to help Harborne chase down Bromsgrove’s first innings 263-7 to secure victory at the Hedges ground, Martley beat visitors Eastnor by a comfortable margin at Jewry Field.

The stand out match at the top of Division Four 1st XI this week was Astwood Bank against table toppers Romsley. However, when the teams arrived both captains agreed that the pitch was unfit for play as due to the dry weather it was excessively cracked and an abandonment agreed.

This presented the opportunity for Halesowen to regain top spot again which they took after Jon Preece (82) and Siddhesh Chavan (79) led them to a first innings 283-7 which proved far too many for visitors Kidderminster to chase.

In other matches Claverley stay in fourth after Rupert Grainger (72) helped secure victory against Stourbridge by over fifty runs, Hallow Taverners amassed a huge first innings 354-6 to overwhelm bottom club Stourport by nearly two hundred runs, Alveley climbed the table after chasing down West Malvern’s impressive first innings 233-7 to win by five wickets and Tenbury Wells won a nail biter by one wicket against Himley at Penlu.
