HALESOWEN Town owner Colin Brookes hopes the feel-good factor at the Grove can continue when the new season gets underway.

Club president Brookes purchased the Yeltz from the Lynch family a fortnight ago thanks to the help of daughter Karen and youth team manager Keith McKenna and is delighted with how preparations are going for the 2018/19 campaign.

Town have already added Tom Warmer and Nick MacPherson to the squad as well as securing a haul of key players who helped them to Northern Premier League survival last term.

They include Ahmed Ali, Roland Agbor, Enock Ekongo, Asa Charlton, Jack Kelly, Dan Platt, Lee Hughes and captain Danny Bragoli as manager John Hill leads the Yeltz into the newly-created Southern League Central.

Brookes said: "Everyone is on a high at the club at the moment and hopefully that transfers to the manager and the players when the season gets back underway.

"I'm told that is already the case and that everyone is really positive.

"John has done such a fantastic job for us since he came in, especially considering what he has had to work with. A lot of people don't understand just what he has been able to do under difficult circumstance.

"He came in and got us promoted and has kept us in a very competitive league.

"This must also be the first summer for five years where everything is more settled because of the takeover.

"It's a clean slate at the club now and hopefully John can take advantage of that.

"John and Matt (Clarke, assistant) know exactly what they need and the areas that need strengthening and they are working to do that.

"They are on the ball and sometimes it's just about being patient and waiting to see who becomes available closer to the start of the season.

"Overall, everything is heading in the right direction again and hopefully we can have a positive season.

"The fans have been great as well since the takeover. We've had volunteers down at the ground making improvements and it's looking great."

Halesowen continued their pre-season preparations with a 2-2 friendly draw at Romulus on Tuesday night.

They had been 2-0 behind before goals from Ekongo and Agbor pulled them level.

They will now go to Aberyswyth this Saturday and Sporting Khalsa on Tuesday night.

Their first home friendly will be against Newtown on Saturday, July 28.
