CAPTAIN Greg Wright is now fully focused on making sure Himley don't get dragged into a relegation fight this season.

They now sit 40 points adrift of second-from-bottom side Brockhampton after a losing draw at Bromsgrove last Saturday.

The hosts hit 232-8 from their 55 overs after winning the toss at St Godwalds Park.

Himley then slipped to 79-7 in reply but dug deep to make sure they took something from the contest. Arunveer Bhogal hit a vital 43 as Himley held on.

Wright said: ""The challenge now is to win enough games to make sure we're safe.

"We have a 40 point gap to the bottom two and must just keep battling hard.

"We hoped we could be right up there but it isn't fair on the young players that come in to expect them to win that many between now and the end of the season.

On the Bromsgrove draw, he added: "They batted first and got a score that was probably just above par.

"We have then got out with some poor shots and were up against it. We have then got back into it and started to dominate before a few things went against us.

"In the end, we clung on and that was all we could do.

"We just have to accept the result really. We had people missing once again and that has been the story all season.

"I haven't once been able to field my first choice side.

"We have more people missing this weekend as well and it makes life so much harder.

"We also had trouble getting the overseas in at the season so it has been difficult.

"The club needs to have a rethink because we haven't been able to field the same side from one week to the next."

Selection issues continue this weekend with six players missing for the visit of Bridgnorth (noon start), including young bowler Adam Finch. He is now back after England under-19 duty but has picked up an injury.

Meanwhile, Himley will once again host the Black Country Floodlit T20 at Stourbridge Road on August 20 - 24.

The contest will see Himley battle with Brewood, Halesowen, Stourbridge, Wolverhampton and a Staffs select side.
