STOURBRIDGE Swimming Club’s all-conquering girls team were crowned Stratford Girls Gala champions for an incredible third year in a row.

Not only did the club’s swimming starlets walk away overall winners, but the recent gala also saw them pick up a further three trophies for relay events in a variety of age groups and strokes.

The super squad finished 29 points clear at the top, beating teams like Camp Hill and hosts Stratford, and with a phenomenal 25 wins over the course of the evening and a whole host of personal best times.

Manager Jason Thom had a tough time picking his familiar swimmer and relay team of the night, so it was no surprise to see more than one name on the manager’s report. Swimmer of the night was shared between Becki Cole, Nat Dingley and Ellie Lord, with relay team of the night going to the swimmers in the final freestyle cannon, and the age group award going to the 11-year-old girls, who won an astonishing 97 per cent of the points available to them. Thom said: “Congratulations girls on a fantastic evening, and thanks also go to all the poolside helpers and parents for their overwhelming support.”

If your child is interested in becoming a member of Stourbridge Swimming Club they currently have vacancies for swimmers from the age of six.

Contact chief coach Stewart Nicklin on 07834 689178, or alternatively come to their club night on Sundays from 4pm at Dudley Leisure Centre.
