KINGSWINFORD'S Michael Rutter hasn't got any plans to hang up his leathers just yet after reaching a milestone in the British Superbikes Championship.

Rutter, 35, has now competed in 301 races in his British Superbikes career.

He said: “I know there are a lot of young riders coming up through the sport.

“But I still feel that I have got a role to play.

“There are still challenges out there for me and I would love to win the British Superbikes Championship.

“I have come close a few times but it just hasn't happened for me.”

Rutter made his debut in the championship at Donnington Park in 1995 - and started with a win.

In 12 seasons, he has only once finished the campaign outside the top 10 and that was last year.

But he has roared back to form this season on his Northwest 200 Ducati to sixth.

Rutter added: “At the end of the day I am in the sport for the racing and I want to carry on for as long as I feel that I can be competitive.
