STOURBRIDGE FC boss Gary Hackett (pictured) is calling for the town to turn out in force for the much-anticipated visit of Halesowen Town on Easter Monday (3pm kick-off).

The Glassboys will be looking for a memorable double over their fierce rivals after picking up a 3-1 win at The Grove on New Years Day.

Hackett is hoping for a bumper crowd to converge on the War Memorial to cheer his in-form side on to glory.

He said: “I think everyone is looking forward to Monday and the visit of Halesowen.

“We have played them quite a few time at home in various cups in recent years but to be playing them here in the league is sure to make it a great occasion.

“It would be excellent for the town to turn out in force and give the team some great vocal support.

“When we played at Halesowen we had a brilliant following who were superb throughout the game so we want them to replicate that on Monday.”

The manager believes his side will be under a little bit more pressure to perform after his side’s recent run of form.

He added: “When we went to Halesowen on New Year’s Day we were massive underdogs but we went there and beat them.

“I think that and our recent run of form will put us under a bit more pressure but we seem to perform better in situations like this.

“But in games like this the form book goes out of the window.

“Big local derbies are the games everyone wants to be involved in and its got the ingredients to be a great occasion.”

The Glassboys are hoping to go into the big borough derby with their BGB Premier Division safety secured with a point at struggling Clevedon on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

Hackett’s men are 12 points clear of Clevedon and a share of the spoils at the weekend will be enough to guarantee a second year in the league.

The Glassboys will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to seven league games at Clevedon following a 1-1 draw at Oxford City last weekend and a 1-1 home draw with play-off chasing Gloucester City at Amblecote on Tuesday evening.

Hackett was left a little disappointed they were not able to pick up all three points from the Gloucester clash.

He added: “I must be honest and say I was a little disappointed to only pick up a point from the Gloucester game because I think we did enough to win it.

“It was a good open game that ebbed and flowed.

“We played Gloucester on the opening day of the season and they soundly beat us and to be honest gave us a footballing lesson so it shows how far we have come this season.”

Hackett will be boosted by the return of Ryan Mahon (suspension) as well as Calum Martin and Dave Bridgwater (work commitments) for the Bank Holiday Weekend.

Influential defender Nathan Bennett is likely to remain sidelined with a calf injury.

One player striving to get back into contention before the end of the season is assistant manager Jon Ford.

The veteran defender will be turning out for Wollaston Sports in a bid to break into the first-team.
