HAGLEY gained another useful victory on Saturday at home to Harborne to jump to third in Crusader Worcester League Division Two.
After losing the toss, Hagley were asked to bat and recovered well after the early losses of Ian Watt (12) and Neil Hurst (4).
They were led by opener James Trinham (60) and skipper Rus Andrews (75), before all-rounder Rob Lightfoot who made 83 not out off 55 balls at the end. Hagley made 263-6 off the 50 overs which looked a good score on a wet track.
John Porter (1-49) then took a wicket in the first over of Harborne’s response but the visiting batsmen then got on top until the introduction of slow bowler Jez Trinham. Trinham bowled 17 overs straight, taking regular wickets to finish with figures of 7-39.
He was supported by Steve Plant (1-14) and Neil Hurst (1-13) who secured the victory on the final ball of the penultimate over.
The result puts Hagley now travel to Pedmore next week.
Hagley second XI fell to a disappointing defeat away at Stourbridge, while the third XI also lost at home to Pedmore.
