DUDLEY’S punching postman Chris Male has been promised a title fight if he delivers another perfect performance in front of his home-town crowd.

First Team Promotions are bringing an action-packed night of professional boxing to The Venue in Dudley on Friday October 9 and top of the bill will be unbeaten Male (pictued right), who takes on 36-year-old veteran Sid Razak.

The 26 year-old, who has not lost a round in his six fights so far, has been told by manager PJ Rowson that a seventh straight win will secure a crack at the Midlands Area super-featherweight title that is currently vacant.

He will be making the step up from four to eight round level for the fight.

Male said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity, I have been hoping to step up after my last couple of fights.

“Sid is one of the best fighters I have sparred with, his record doesn’t really do him justice. I know I am in for a tough fight and I will really have to be at my best.

“If I can come through it then the Midland belt is the next step.”

The importance of the bout was underlined by Rowson, who added: “Chris simply can’t afford to lose this fight. This is the biggest fight of his career.”

Male has had big nights before in a professional career that started last September.

In March, his exciting four-round points win over Pavels Senkovs from Latvia was screened live to the nation’s fight fans on ITV 4 and his all-action style impressed ringside experts including former three-weight world champion Duke McKenzie, who was commentating on the fight.

He followed that with a points win over Shaun Walton at The Venue and then outpointed Steve Gethin to move to the brink of a title fight.

First Team Promotions’ bill at the Venue also includes unbeaten heavyweight Neil Perkins along with Black Country prospects Richie Ghent and Jamie Ball and Dudley boxer Martin Gordon.
