DUDLEY Knights Hockey Club suffered a miserable weekend with two heavy defeats which included a 13-0 drubbing at Oswestry.

Missing several regular players, Sol Buckner’s nine man side was put to the sword on Saturday.

Despite holding out for 15 minutes, once the goals started the Knights decided to conserve energy for the following day’s game.

A spirited display provided little solace for the Knights in a tough 5-0 defeat to Barlaston at The Dell on Sunday.

Rookie keeper Martin Turner put in a fine debut with a string of close range saves to earn man-of-the-match.

But the deadlock was broken on 23 minutes when the visitors scored a well taken short-corner.

Despite some dreadful tackles, the visitors helped themselves to four more goals condemning the Knights to their sixth straight league defeat.

Buckner said: “Despite a long, tiring, disappointing weekend we all went home with smiles on our faces.

“We have a great bunch of lads and a superb team spirit.”

The Knights welcome Aston University to Earls High School in Halesowen on Saturday for a 2pm push back.
