OLD Halesonians Hockey Club started the delayed second half of the season with a 3-1 defeat away at Wolverhampton.
The visitors started the game well with the majority of possession and chances, but a rare Wolves attack saw a goal line scramble where the ball was blocked illegally by the Old Hales defence, and the home side converted the awarded penalty flick.
Old Hales were two down moments later from a breakaway strike, before Harry Hughes pulled one back.
Despite a good start to the second half, the visitos began to tire and the hosts added a third to seal the win.
The table topping seconds left it until the second half to secure a 3-0 win over Wolverhampton.
Nathan Kelly opened the scoring for Hales shortly after they had spurned a chance from a penalty flick.
Alan Loveridge doubled the lead with a neat reverse stick finish before Graham Knight took advantage of a porous Wolves defence to add a third.
There was disappointment for the the third team who slumped to a 4-0 defeat to Wolves thirds.
They were two down at the break after coming up against a good deal of attacking pressure from the home side and despite a strong display from Nigel Smith they were unable to turn things around after the break.
Old Hales fifth team were left to rue a strong performance from Evesham’s goalkeeper as they were dealt a 3-0 loss.
Elsewhere the Badgers grabbed a 1-1 draw with Streetly thanks to a late equaliser from Danial Dew.
