NORTON Social A came away from West Midlands Police with a 3-2 victory in the Stourbridge and District Snooker Leagye with Tom Johnson making a 73 break, Dominic Allen winning narrowly and Kev Franklin taking the decider in comprehensive style.
Gavin Sloan and Pete Gibbons both won for the home team.
Norton’s advantage at the top of the Premier Division was trimmed to two points when defending champions, Brierley Hill SC A overwhelmed Bearwood Cons A 5-0.
Luke Higginbotham with a 52 break, Callum Downing, Maria catalano, Ashley Sidaway and Elliot Bastable all won decisively.
Bearwood Cons B remain in third place but saw their advantage over the 4th place team, Pockets SC, cut to three points when they lost 4-1 at home to them.
Gary Smith, Alex Bowman, Kevin Ellis and 16 year old Andrew Smith with a 65 break did the damage for Pockets, but Steve James, the former world number 5, suffered his first defeat of the season at the hands of Paul Vyze.
Neil Gennard, Lee Whitehouse and Jan Priest eased Harts Hill Social to a 3-2 victory against Amblecote RBL, while Matt Emms, Dave Summers and Aaron Dakin, who created the colours, clinched victory for Snooks against Kinver.
First Division: The top two teams both recorded 4-1 victories and there is literally nothing between them.
Townsend Social did well to win at Kingswinford SC where dave, Phil and Rob Thompson and Steve Childs put them 4-0 ahead before John Cowen pulled back a frame for the home team, while Brierley Hill SC B had to work hard to beat their C team 4-1.
Mike Richards, Warren Knight, Paul Dunkey and Richard Brookes won for the B team, but Jack trueman was just outpointed by Luke Garland.
There is a gap of 12 points to the third place team, Stourbridge Institute A for whom Cyril Tromans was the only winner as Amblecote Institute B had the edge in four tight finishes - Alan Moore, John Sloper, Mitch Skidmore and Sam Harrison squeezing home.
Chris Jeavons’ 44 break for Dibdale inflicted a rare defeat on Stourbridge Institute B’s Nick Aston, with Dibdale taking the match 3-2, while the two Kinver teams both won 3-2 - Rob Jones taking the decider for the C team at Baggeridge and Jon Perry taking the decisive frame for the B team who edged home against Langley Bowling Club.
Second Division: Amblecote Institute D have moved quietly to the top of the division and have a four point advantage over Roy Pugh, Mark Colbourne and Graham and Matthew Lewis enabled them to beat Kingswinford Cons B 4-1, Colin Homer had a rare defeat, losing to Chris Poole.
Wombourne B won 4-1 on the tables of Brierley Hill SC E with Paul Churchman beating Richard Round, who has led the ‘most wins’ table for most of the season.
Stourbridge Institute D proved too strong for their own C team. Tom Hamilton, Jim Price, Brian Arnold and Roy Clewes won for the team which has a share in 4th place, 8 points off the lead.
