BRIERLEY Hill Pool and Snooker A regained top spot in the Stourbridge Snooker League Premier Division with a 4-1 win over Amblecote Institute A.

With rivals Kinver without a game, it was the perfect opportunity for Brierley Hill to get back on top and they didn’t waste it, despite Steve Mason giving Amblecote a great start by beating Jamie Spence.

But Ashley Sidaway, Maria Catalano, Callum Downing and Eliott Bastable fought back for the title contenders.

Snooks SC A are third after beating Brierley Hill’s B team 4-1, with Chris Southall, Rob Howen, Bal Sembi and Mike Rizzo their winners.

Fourth-placed West Midlands Police just got the better of Pockets SC A 3-2, even though Kev Franklin lost for only the second time this season as he was out-gunned by Rich Pepparall.

Hot Shots edged a little closer in fifth with a 4-1 victory against Norton Social A. Neil Beckley, Roy Stokes, Wayne Robbins and David Konier all won.

Things are getting close at the bottom with only three points separating four teams.

Bearwood Cons head the group after defeating Netherton 4-1. Paul Gibson, Paul Churan, John Chester and Stuart Amos won for Bearwood, with Richard Barnsley replying for Libs.

Brierley Hill C dropped to second-from-bottom when Neil Gennard was their only winner at home to Snooks B. Jon Bate, Chris Price, Tony Brown and Wayne Bentley secured a 4-1 win for the visitors.

Stourbridge Institute A pulled seven points clear at the top of the First Division when they became the first team to win away at Pockets SC B.

Cyril Tromans, Paul Bates and Paul Garbett completed a 3-2 win for the leaders.

Second place Kinver Constitutional B slipped to a 3-2 defeat away to Kingswinford RBL A. Arnie Tromans and Ron Smith won but Gregg Reece, Anthony Davies and Andrew Brown took the match for the Legion, who now lie fourth.

Kingswinford SC won their fourth game in a row when Tim Carter, John Cowen, John Byng and Paul Ross combined for a 4-1 victory away at Kinver C.

In a tight match at Norton Social B, Wayne Whitmore and John Cartwright put Kingswinford Cons A 2-0 ahead, before Paul Hipkiss and Pete Cairns squared things up at 2-2 only for Cons’ John Rees to win the decider.

The local derby in Amblecote saw the British Legion defeat the Institute’s B 4-1.
