Phillips’ strike seals cup joy

TWO late goals saw Glasscutters beat Brittania to win the Dalley Cup, in the Dudley and Cradley Sunday Football League.
Glasscutters winger Kieron Hughes missed a good chance in the first-half but both sides were struggling to convert.
Stephen Devonport finally broke the deadlock when he latched on to a Dan Gilliam pass and fired past the keeper.
Brittania pushed for an equaliser but this left space at the back and Stephen Phillips escaped to double the advantage and seal the win.
Hope Tavern continued their quest for the Premier Division title with another two wins as they followed up their 4-0 success on Thursday over Legends by repeating the scoreline against FC Baggeridge.
Braces from both Geoff Hill and Kyle Willams kept Hope’s 100 per cent league record intact.
Ten-man Team Netherton rounded off their seasson in style with a 10-1 thumping of the Gate. Aaron Lloyd, Lee Male, Jason Parkes and Ben Jones put Netherton four goals up but they then had Nathan Garrett sent off.
In the end it mattered little as Neil Corbett bagged a second-half hat-trick while Male and Parkes also scored again.
Lloyds are top of Division One after following up a 11-0 win over Sedgley White Lions with a 3-0 victory against Britannia.
Waggon continued their push for promotion with a 7-2 victory over Wordsley Wasps.
Danny Bellis and Lee Cooksey both notched doubles with Jamie Rollinson, Si Pritchard and Jay Page all on the scoresheet.
