Pearson hits back at "jealous" Heathens critics

HEATHENS bosses have taken a swipe at their critics who accuse them of a win at all costs attitude.

Last week’s signing of British Under 21 Champion Joe Haines as cover for injured skipper Adam Roynon sparked some reaction within the sport.

Now club chairman Nigel Pearson has hit back, pointing to the progress of the club’s youngsters this season.

He said: “We understand the need to work with youngsters in the National League and I won’t accept the win at all costs accusation from some jealous people.

“Last Thursday at Sheffield Dudley Heathens supplied two of the four finalists in the British Under 19 Final – and four of the top eight!

“Ashley Morris, Tom Perry, Dan Greenwood and Darryl Ritchings have all made good progress this season and they are all teenagers with a bright future in the sport.”

Morris finished runner-up to Stefan Nielsen at Sheffield with Perry fourth, Greenwood sixth and Ritchings eighth.
