Heathens set for Stoke showdown
8:10pm Monday 24th September 2012 in Sport
DUDLEY Heathens are gearing up to face Stoke in the home leg of their National League play-off semi-final tomorrrow (7.30pm).
The former Cradley club are hoping for a bumper crowd at Monmore Green after bosses refused to increase admission prices.
And that means fans can back the Heathens in their race for the title for just £10 adults, £7 concessions and £2 children.
There is also an added bonus for supporters as the club will be staging the Les Pottinger Memorial Trophy – a one-off race featuring the top four Heathens riders on the night.
Coach Jan O. Pedersen said: “The boys got together last Monday and had a proper chat about things and they know what’s needed from them.
“We’ll be looking for a handy lead from this meeting in order to go to Stoke next Tuesday in good shape.
“And once again we’ll be looking towards our brilliant fans to really get behind us in big numbers.”
Season tickets are valid for the meeting with the return at Loomer Road – ironically home to the Heathens in 1996 – next Tuesday, October 2.
British Under-21 Champion Joe Haines makes his Heathens debut as injury replacement for Adam Roynon who still hopes to be back next month.
HEATHENS: Joe Haines, Dan Greenwood, Tom Perry, Byron Bekker, Ashley Morris, Darryl Rithings, James White Williams.
STOKE: Ashley Birks, Richard Andrews R/R, James Cockle, Ben Reade, Tony Atkin, Liam Rumsey, Liam Carr.
