Stour seconds enjoy Terrill success

STOURBRIDGE Chess Club’s second team enjoyed victory against Boldmere in the Terrill Trophy.

The knockout tournament is organised by the Birmingham League on a handicap basis and Stour were up against a stronger team.

But they put in a superb performance to draw 3-3 and progress on board count.

The firsts also look like going through after their clash with third division Shirley and Wythall was adjourned.

Stour were giving up a 1½ point handicap and needed three points from the five boards.

Steve Jukes claimed victory on board five, while on board one, Jeremy Fallowfield has the better position, while Nic Fallowfield is a pawn up on board two and should be victorious.

Dave Scriven, on board four, has a monstrous king side attack.
