Stour snatch a trio of wins

STOURBRIDGE Chess Club enjoyed an excellent week as they picked up three victories.

The seconds defeated Bushbury 4½-1½ in their Birmingham League Division Three clash.

Stour did not lose a game with the top-three boards of Eric Horwill, Julie Wilson and Paul Sharratt all winning while the remaining three boards all drew.

Team skipper Horwill played a bishop sacrifice which his opponent took, resulting in checkmate.

The A team managed to scrape a win against Kidderminster in Division Two of the Wolverhampton League.

Jeremy Fallowfield and Greg Dyett both won, while there were draws for Nick Harris, Dave Scriven and Colin Woodall, though Stour will feel they should have won more comfortably.

The firsts completed a 3½-2½ win over Warley Quinborne in Birmingham League Division Two in a game which was adjourned with Stour leading 2-0.
