Kings maintain perfect record
1:00pm Thursday 18th October 2012 in Sport
KINGSWINFORD HC continued their perfect start to the season with a 3-1 win at Old Wulfrunians.
The hosts had lost their opening two games but dominated the first half and would have lead comfortably but for the excellent reactions of Kings keeper Tim Sanders.
After a stern half-time team talk, the visitors improved markedly after the break and Mark Wilson went close to opening the scoring.
With 15 minutes to go, the deadlock was finally broken as Steve Beatty finished off a neat passing move.
Sam George doubled the advantage soon after, latching on to a pass from Ajay Sandhu. Cole Hickman made it three, firing in off the keepers pads, before the hosts grabbed a late consolation.
The seconds won the battle of two unbeaten teams as they triumphed 2-0 against Pershore.
It was the visitors who enjoyed most of the early pressure and Kings keeper Harry Bains had to be in fine form to keep the scores level.
Kings gradually began to take the game to Pershore and went ahead when Daman Johal swept home at the second attempt after his initial shot had been saved by the keeper.
A deflected effort before the break gave Johal his second.
