Roynon set for Heathens return
6:00pm Saturday 20th October 2012 in Sport
HEATHENS have been handed a massive boost ahead of the biggest night in the modern era next Tuesday.
Skipper Adam Roynon, the best rider in the National League, has declared himself fit and ready to return to the side for the Grand Final 1st Leg with Mildenhall at Monmore Green next Tuesday, October 23.
The meeting forms part of a double-header with the 2nd leg of the Knockout Cup Final between the sides following immediately afterwards.
And the following night the sides meet again at West Row in the deciding leg of the National League title decider.
Heathens chairman Nigel Pearson said: “It seems unlikely that Byron Bekker will be fit and he is such a key rider so that’s a blow.
“James White Williams is hoping to be on a bike this weekend to test his ankle injury and it’s fingers crossed with him.
“So for us to have our skipper and No.1 back and ready to help us is great news. Adam was gutted when we lost the first leg of the KOC Final and is determined to team up with the boys to push for the championship.
“Tuesday night will be a very special night. 30 heats of Speedway for £15 adults, £10 concessions and £2 children represents great value for money.
“We will also have a number of councillors from Dudley and Sandwell as our guests watching the action so we want to see the terraces packed.
“And we are also delighted to have Griffiths & Pegg Accountants as meeting sponsors, they’re based in Cradley Heath and want to come and see what all the fuss is about!”
The club have also produced a full colour souvenir programme for the night which includes interviews, one-off features, photographs and columns from the management as well as a look back at great days from the Cradley era. It’s 36 pages for £3.
