And so the transfer window has been slammed shut.

I couldn’t be bothered to watch the ‘deadline day drama’ unfold as it all was contrived as fat cat’s tax return.

I couldn’t care less about which unlikable billionaire has bought which unlikable millionaire all I did was check on Wednesday was who the Villa had bought.

Jermain Jenas and Alan Hutton from Spurs, who are about two years behind our descent down the league after trying to build a decent squad only to be blown out of the water by tainted oil money.

Hutton is a better player than Luke Young on cheaper wages so all in all that’s a solid signing.

As for Jenas, well so many fans greeted his signing like we had bought the biggest dud since Ivo Stas.

He’s an average player and we are an average Premiership side so perhaps it will be a good fit, and he has a point to prove after being at the back of the Spurs midfield queue for the last few seasons.

There was no glamour signing, no signing which might be able to get the manager’s faith in being actually able to pass to our Goal Machine when he wanted.

The only way we would have been able to get a stellar signing was if one of them there top four clubs who we have been feeding players to for the last few years had taken pity on us and let us have a fringe player for a season.

And they would have only thought they were too good for us anyway.

Mr McLeish, who is unbeaten don’t forget, depressed me about his assessment of Barry Bannan having the audacity of trying to play killer passes. This is going to be a season of one up front games, that is until Mr Bent puts in a transfer request in on January 1.

I didn’t think the Wolves game was that bad, we had a good go and on another day we might have broken the deadlock and scored a few more.

But seeing Gabby on the wing is such a waste it is like having a beautiful woman who constantly says she’s too ill to go out.

He’s a striker. So play him up front with Bent and we would look a lot more dangerous side.

Jean Makoun has left Villa Park, the manager never fancied him from the start and his stuttering display against Hereford did not do him any favours.

He had a great start to his Villa career by playing a blinder against Man Utd but blew his chance of a long run in the team by getting sent off against Blackpool.

He’s going to be another Matheui Berson, someone who had one great game against a top four team then disappeared into mainland Europe never to be seen again.

We’ve had a decent start to the season and though our league position might flatter to deceive we are right in there in the Race for Seventh.

And that my friends is where we are destined to stay for years to come, we wont get relegated and we wont get in the top six. I just hope we win a cup one day.

Anyway it’s non-league day today, I fancy watching some real football where billionaire owners with dodgy human rights records and millionaire players who treat women like dirt are nowhere to be seen.

But whatever I say I'm still counting down the days to the next home game! Saturday's just are not the same without the Villa!

Up the Villa.
