TWO of the few unbeaten teams left at Eastlands clash in Manchester tomorrow. The Villains versus the Human Rights Dodging Oilmen. A mouth-watering prospect if I have there is ever one - if your a Man City fan or Mario Balotelli.

The Villa have had a good start to the season. Unbeaten no less. Well in the league anyway. But we have not played a top six team yet.

The game against Wigan was very enjoyable, lots of shots at goal, lovely sunny day and three points in the bag, in fact for a brief moment I got caught up in the excitement and considered going to Man City away.

But I wont be going to Eastlands. Seeing seven goals put past us last season put me off that place for life. Both experiences nearly kicked the football out of me. Nope I’ll be finding somewhere in Brum to watch the game, thank you very much. If I did go I’d be doing the Poznan all through the game so not to watch the billionaires maul the mere millionaires.

I don’t like having a defensive manager. I’d rather have a gung-ho Ossie Ardiles type who throws the kitchen sink at defences not just an injured Darren Bent. But hopefully tomorrow having a defensive manager will be one of those days when it pays off to be negative. Let’s just park the bus and play for a 0-0. Don’t even bother trying to attack because there are about £800 million reasons why we will lose. In fact I think McLeish is on to something playing Heskey at centre back because our defence are going to need all the help they can get.

We are not even in the same league as the Manchester Human Rights Dodging Oilmen. In fact playing the few teams that ever have a chance of winning the boring Premiership is a distraction from the Race for Seventh that we could do without. A friend of mine said ‘I’d take 3-0 before the game starts’. And that says it all. But I am not that pessimistic. Shay Given will have something to prove tomorrow, and as he will be our busiest player on the pitch he will be able to show Mancini and Wenger what they are missing. If we dont concede in the first half the miracle 0-0 could be on the cards. However, if Mr Balotelli is playing I’ll be putting a fiver on him to score first because he was the best player I saw last year, effortlessly brilliant in both games against the Villa. Nobody else mind, just the Villa. And as Villa are 8-1 to win I’ll throw a couple of quid on that as well. And to think we were fighting the Oilmen for a Champions League spot 18 months ago. So lets just get through this weekend with some pride intact and then we can all look forward to the top of West Midlands Premier League clash against West Bromwich Albion, who if you haven’t noticed have had an awful start in the Race for Seventh.
