Every game vital in Old Hill battle - Cox

DAN Cox says Old Hill must treat every game with equal importance as they battle relegation.
The Haden Hill Park outfit, who are mired in the Birmingham League Division One drop zone, travel to Ombersley on Saturday — the side just five points and one place above them in the table.
The visitors will be without Jack Shantry, who is in Worcestershire’s squad for their county game at Lancashire, but even playing a game would be some achievement after two straight washout weekends.
Cox, whose side have been involved in five abandoned games this season, said: “It’s a big game in the sense if we can get a positive result we will overtake them but if they win, the gap will open up.
“But they are all big games, there is not one game where you would say it is going to be easy.
“It’s been farcical really with the weather and I think the league is a bit mixed up because of that.
“At the start of the season I would have expected Ombersley to be right up there.
“I certainly feel we have the players to get us out of trouble.
“But it’s a case of getting on the pitch and doing it.”
Old Hill were hoping to regain some of their match sharpness this week on the club’s tour, which took in games against Exeter and Sidmouth.
Cox feels the week away is a good opportunity for some team-bonding.
He added: “When you are spending all day together and it’s a good chance to get to know each other. It’s a chance to regain some form and to get some matches in.”
The second XI last weekend, who recorded a five-wicket win over Wolverhampton.
In a low scoring game which was reduced to 37 overs per side, the Old Hill bowling quintet of George Hills, Dan Such, Mo Javaid, Bilal Mohammed and Oliver Moseley took two wickets each as Wolves were skittled out for just 63 in 28.2 overs.
Alex Hills then hit an unbeaten 27 as Old Hill chased down the target in 27 overs.
