Out of the shadows
The tasty Dudley Town versus Dudley Sports derby will take place this Saturday with the visitors looking to stake their claim as the town's top team.
The Dell Stadium will host this weekend's encounter (3pm kick-off) with Sports occupying second and the Robins flying high in sixth in the West Midlands Premier Division.
Dudley Sports joint-manager Neil Perks has guided the club to their highest ever league position in the football pyramid and is looking forward to the game as he looks to take his side out from behind the shadows of their illustrious town neighbours.
He said: "For a long time we have been in the shadows of Dudley Town but over the last couple of years we have closed the gap on them.
"My hope is for both teams to do well and get promoted in the future because that can only be good for the town.
"I've got a lot of respect for Rob (Perks) and Ian (Rowe) because they are doing a cracking job and like ourselves they like to see their team play football in the right way.
"Both sets of players know each other quite well so it's a game we are all looking forward to."
Sports will go into the game still in second place following a 0-0 home draw with Darlaston Town last Saturday.
Perks and his management partner Paul Blakeley will expect to have Grant Joshua (suspension) and Anthony Cox (injury) back for the weekend.
Dudley Town, meanwhile also drew 0-0 last weekend away at AFC Wulfrunians.
Elsewhere, Tividale picked up an impressive 1-1 draw away at third-placed Wednesfield.
Tivi manager Dean Whitehouse, who is currently undergoing a big shake-up of his squad, witnessed his side take a share of the spoils after Nicky Dodds equalised for the visitors.
This Saturday, Tivi welcome runaway leaders Bridgnorth to the Beeches (3pm kick-off).
Brierley Hill and Withymoor cruised to a 4-1 victory over Bustleholme on Saturday thanks to goals from Mitch Orford, Lee Booth (2) and Carl Martin.
The win concluded a great week for Tony Gore's men who also reached the semi-final of the Worcestershire Senior Urn beating Feckenham 3-2 with a last-minute goal from Lee Booth.
This Saturday they travel to Wednesfield (3pm kick-off).
