| Looking up: Dudley Town joint manager Ian Rowe |
Dudley Town returned to winning ways thanks to a 1 - 0 away win at Ludlow Town and are now sitting pretty in third place in the West Midlands Premier Division.
Joint manager Ian Rowe is now eager to see his side push for second spot after they occupied that slot until Teusday.
With league leaders Bridgnorth closing in on the title with an 11-point cushion at the top, the real fight now is for second position.
The Robins want that lofty position and with only seven games to go Rowe believes his side can stay there.
He said: "Being realistic, Bridgnorth are not going to be caught so the battle is now to finish second and after Saturday's win we now occupy that position.
"We now intend to stay there and as we have been doing we will treat our seven remaining league fixtures as cup finals because if we pick 21 points up the runners-up position will be ours.
"When me and Rob (Perks) took over our aim was to beat last season's fifth position and that would still be a great achievement but maybe we are now looking a little a bit above that and the great news is it is all in our own hands."
Last weekend's triumph coincided with a return from injury of influential captain Danny Koumi and the arrival of left winger Lee Hodgson Bridge.
The pair will both be involved in Saturday's derby day clash with Lye Town at the Dell Stadium (3pm kick-off), withRowe anticipating a tough encounter.
He added: "We have got some tough fixtures between now and the end of the season and no more so than this Saturday when we host Lye Town.
"It should be a cracking local derby because they are a team on the up at present."
Lye will go inthe clash on the crest of a wave after they defeated high-flying Wenesfield 4-2 at Stourbridge Road on Saturday.
The all-important goals were scored by Lee Pardoe (2), Ben Storer and Mark Whitehouse.
The Robins flew above town rivals Dudley Sports after they were only able to pick up a 1-1 draw at home to Wellington on Saturday before slipping to defeat at the hands of Wolverhampton Sports on Saturday.
The results mean Sports have fallen to sixth in the table.
Meanwhile at the other end of the table Gornal Athletic are still looking over their shoulders following their 2-0 defeat at Darlaston Town.
Simon Wiliams' men will look to bounce back from this loss when they welcome Bewdley Town to the Garden Walk Stadium (3pm kick-off) this Saturday.
Brierley Hill and Withymoor will be back in action at the Grove on Saturday whne they welcome Afc Wulfrunians (3pm kick-off).
