Brilliant Borough triumph in final

Dudley and Cradley Football League.

The AM2PM Dudley Guest Hospital Cup final was contested between Dudley Borough And Wrens Nest.

With both teams being introduced to the Mayor and the crowd anticipating a good game, Tividale FC proved to be a good setting for the final.

Dudley Borough started the game the brighter and it was soon evident who looked favourites to lift the trophy.

David Brown provided the opening goal and was soon to add his second as Borough ran up a 2-0 lead inside twenty minutes.

Things looked to have turned in Wrens Nests favour when Borough were down to ten men following a sending off in the 23rd minute.

The second half saw Wrens Nest reduce the arrears only for Borough to hit back through Ryan Spittle.

Wrens continued to fight back and again reduced the scoreline.

It was Borough who triumphed as Dale Whitehouse added their fourth to ensure the trophy would bear the name of Dudley Borough for the 2007-08 season.

Premier action saw Pensnett United take further steps towards the league title with a 6-0 win over Caves as rivals Montys again had a week off.

Tom Stanaway bagged a brace and strikes from John Gregg, Geoff Hill, Stuart O'Farrell and a David McKenzie penalty ensuring a comfortable win.

Wrens Nest and Gornal Baggeridge battled out a seven-goal thriller.

Wrens shaking off their mid-week cup final defeat to come out on top 4-3.

Tyrone Elm, Kieran Bennett, Kevin Hadlington and Paulo Pierra were all on target for Wrens Nest.

Gornal replied through a Dan Allen brace and an Adam Trevis strike.

In Division One Dudley Bush Old Boys look like seeing out the season undefeated as they polished off Netherton Liberals Reserves 4-1.

Lee Chilton picked up a hat-trick with Dan Bishop also scoring, Liberals replied through a Ken Webb goal.

Bushwackers hopes of a runners-up spot took a bump with defeat at Sedgley Courthouse 3-2.

Courthouse must now fancy their chance of taking the number two spot.

Coseley Jockey must still fancy their chance of pipping both Sedgley and Bushwackers following a 2-0 win over Servo Steels.

The Harry Downing Trophy saw Park Inn and Hurst Hill Tavern Battle out a 2-2 draw.

Dean Fellows and Martin Guest were on target for Tavern with Anthony Penn and Lee Smith scoring for Park.

It was Park Inn who held their nerve winning the game 5-4 after penalties.

Netherton Liberals Reserves went down to Lodge Farm 7-5, Anthony Flavell bagging three for Farm with Declan Caulder picking up a brace Purchase and Sneed were also no target Liberals replied through Anthony Blakewell (3) Robin Wall and Aaron Hayes.

Results: AM2PM Dudley Guest Hospital Cup Final: Dudley Borough 4-2 Wrens Nest Premier Division: Pensnett United 6-0 Caves, Wrens Nest 4-3 Gornal Baggeridge.

Division One: Netherton Liberals 1-4 Dudley Bush OB, Sedgley Courthouse 3-2 Bushwackers, Servo Steels 0-2 Coseley Jockey.

Harry Downing Trophy: Netherton Liberals 5-7 Lodge Farm, Hurst Hill Tavern 2-2 Park Inn Park win (5-4 after penalties).

Fixtures for Sunday April 6: Joe Stanton Memorial Trophy Semi-final: Hurst Hill Tavern v Dudley FC.

Premier Division: Dudley Borough v Wrens Nest, Montys v Caves.
