HALESOWEN Town fans favourite Nick Amos (pictured) could well have played his last game for the club as he closes in on a move to bitter rivals Bromsgrove Rovers.

Last year's player of the season has struggled to break into the Yeltz first team since manager Morell Maison took over last October and has been the target for a host of clubs ever since.

With the Greens making a seven-day approach for the player, Maison believes it may prove difficult to keep Amos at the Grove.

He said: "I'm going to fight tooth and nail to get Nick to stay because he's such a key player in our squad.

"At his age (32) he wants to be playing regular football and its been soul destroying for him to be on the bench.

"The problem is since he got injured Darren Caskey and Jay Denney have made the central midfield positions their own, while Dennis Pearce and Stuart Pierpoint have been in commanding form at the back.

"There is a strong possibility he will be moving to Bromsgrove because they have offered him a very good deal but I haven't given up hope of keeping as yet."

Bromsgrove Rovers caretaker boss and former Yeltz striker Duane Darby confirmed he has spoken to the utility player about a possible move.

He said: "I have spoken to Nick (Amos), and he is happy with things on this side.

"They have got a couple of injuries and now we have got to put seven days in for him, whereas before we weren't going to have to."

Halesowen will return to action this Saturday when they welcome Tiverton to the Grove (3pm kick-off).

The Yeltz drew 0-0 away at Chippenham last weekend and were due to host Gloucester City on Tuesday, but once again the game fell foul to the wet weather.

Maison is hoping to welcome back Dennis Pearce for the weekend after recovering from injury.

The manager is also hopeful of having a new player on board.

On his wish-list is an un-named right sided midfielder who is currently on the books of Conference South side.

One player who will not be joining the Yeltz is centre half Nathan Peprah.

The defender was a target for Maison but the former Spurs trainee decided to leave Dorchester for FA Cup heroes Havant and Waterlooville instead.
