TREMENDOUS trebles for Shaun Rochelle and Kingsley Parker, and two wins from Ken Worton saw Jim's Gym to a comfortable 9-1 win away to Dudley Leisure A and maximum points to take a seven-point lead in Division One of the Dudley and District Table Tennis League. Woodsetton Steels stay second with a 6-4 away win at Bromley A, two wins each for Kevin Flavell, Gary Webster and Roy Munday. Dave Whittingslow starred for Bromley with three wins. Thimblemill B could only draw 5-5 with their struggling C team, despite three wins from Graham Williams.
Two wins each from Mick Jones and Dave Smith and one from Phil Hughes gave the C team a welcome, well deserved two points.
A brace each from Harry Bird and Ian Field helped Dudley Leisure B to a 6-4 win over their C team.
In Division Two, Sandwell Unison hammered bottom team Bromley F 10-0, Michael Poole, Jill Poole and Andy Rose winning all. Bromley E fared little better, being thrashed 9-1 at home to Lees, Dean Crumpton and Indy Dosanjh scoring trebles and Wilf Parkes winning two. Ashley Flavell had the only win for Bromley.
THE leader of Dudley Council claims town residents have been given a “smack in the teeth” after a planning inspector granted permission for the £18 million mosque and community training and enterprise centre.
