Cosleby cruises to victory
Playing with two different partners Baggeridge bowler Ken Colesby was on form in the Hadley Indoor Leagues at Smethwick.
In the Friday League playing with John Crane the duo won 28-1 to keep the Black Country outfit in second place behind Selly Park.
In the Sunday league playing with John Flavell the duo won 17-3 in their club's 41-17 victory over Dartmouth Central which made it 19 wins from 19 matches to virtually ensure Baggeridge the title.
The climax of the Cookley Indoor League season looms and it's all to play for at the top of the division one table after leaders Netherton Cons came unstuck against Stourbridge Labour losing 18-11.
Second-placed DMBEC C' kept up the pressure beating DMBEC A' 19-10.
In Division Two, Cradley Heath Libs lead the White Horse by four points after a good win by 27-14 over Cradley Libs B'.
White Horse beat War Memorial 18-13.
Wollescote are pressing for third spot after a 24-11 victory against Netherton Cons A'.
Despite losing 10-8 to Callum Green and Paul Smith the current leaders in the Stourbridge Labour Indoor Pairs League Geoff Brooks and Roy Harper are still on course to retain the title.
Second-placed Dave and Trevor Bate beat Geoff Lowe and Martin Griffiths 9-7. In third spot are Dennis Foxall and Andy Pagett who beat Phil Baker and Chris Markham 10-6. Harry Heaven and Frank Johnson defeated Brenda and Derek Brookes 11-9. John Foxall and June Winmill beat Mark and Malcolm Webster 14-7 and Alan Mole and Steve Davis dug deep to beat Paul Hickman and George Smith 12-7.
To mark his 30 years membership of the George Bowling Club, Terry Williams was presented with a silver salver. He has served on the club committee for 29 years and has been club chairman for the past 23 years.
The George BC has for many of those years been regarded as the top club in the Warwick and Worcester County Bowling Association clinching many trophies both at a team and individual at local and national level.
Terry who began playing the game in 1968 at the Londonderry BC followed by nine years at the Holly Bush BC joined the Gorge in 1978.
With their Alliance side this year competing in the Staffordshire League and a new doubles competition featuring some of the games leading players taking place on March 29th Terry says the club are setting their stall out to be the hunter once more and not the hunted.
The latest qualifiers to the prestigious Tony Pagett Open at Cradley, are Ian Whitehouse, Paul Butcher, Dave Smtih and Dave Semper.
