Speedster ready to challenge

INGSWINFORD'S Michael Rutter is relishing the start of the British Superbikes Championship at Brands Hatch this Sunday despite his lack of preparation.

The recent bad weather has meant that the veteran speedster has not had as much time as he would have liked to practice on his new JHP Ducati.

But he is still eager to get down to business this weekend and he said: "I am really looking forward to the new season.

"I am 100 per cent fit and at the end of the day it is just down to me to ride the bike."

"The team and bikes are first class and I have every confidence in the machine."

"With what we have got we should be well up the championship table.

"If we are not I will be extremely disappointed.

"I am not as prepared as I would have liked to have been because I have been really unlucky with weather."

"I had three days at Snetterton which I was looking forward to but it snowed, rained and hailed.

"Last week I was at Mallory Park and just as it dried out it rained again and prevented anyone racing.

"We have attempted to hire a circuit for some much-needed practice, but they are all booked so it is a case of going straight to Brands Hatch."
