High flying Robins delight duo

TWO goals in two minutes gave Dudley Town their eighth away win of the season against Bustleholme on Saturday to the delight of caretaker management duo Ian Rowe and Rob Perks.

An own goal from Matty Timms came following good work by Lee Hodgson Bridge-who has re-signed for the Robins after a two-year absence.

Centre half Craig Beresford added a second shortly afterwards to seal victory at Tipton Sports Academy.

With Rowe and Perks in charge Town have gone from strength to strength, so much so they are now sitting third in the West Midlands Premier Division.

Following the game the management pair said: "We are happy with the way that the lads had performed and that the team are now taking shape"

With no game next Saturday, Dudley Town will not be back in action again until they travel near neighbours Brierley Hill and Withymoor on December 29.

Dudley Town press officer Mark McIntyre believes the current run of form means the club committee will be in no rush to appoint a new manager.

He said: "The club officials are in no hurry to appoint a new manager following the departure of Dean Whitehouse and Dave Smith.

"The club have indicated that a short list has been drawn up and interviews will take place sometime in January."

Town still remain one position below Dudley Sports who's rich vein of form just continues at a pace.

Last weekend Sports claimed a 4-2 triumph over Bewdley Town courtesy of a hat-trick from Ross Harris and one from Grant Joshua.

Joint managers Neil Perks and Paul Blakeley have been delighted with their side's progress although it's come a little bit quicker than they expected.

Perks said: "Everything's going well at the moment and the club is going in the right direction both on and off the field.

"This year we have certainly progressed and to be honest a bit quicker than we expected.

"Our ambition has always been to get out of this division but we are not under any pressure to make that happen this year so we will just see what happens.

Next up for Dudley is a home game against Darlaston at Hillcrest Avenue on Saturday (3pm kick off).

Sports will be looking to avenge a 5-2 hammering handed out by their visitors back in September which was incidentally their last league defeat.

Gornal Athletic's torrid season continued at the weekend after they let a one goal lead away to Wellington slip through their fingers as they went down 2-1.

They travel to bottom of the table Bromyard this Saturday in a massive clash for both sides.

Tividale got into the festive spirit with a 5-2 home win over Pelsall Villa.

Amongst the goals were Martyn Allard (2), Chris Smith (2) and Lee Onions.

They will be looking to make it back to back wins when they travel to Ledbury this Saturday.

Lye Town were denied all three points away at Shawbury on Saturday after Tom Reynolds grabbed a late equaliser for the hosts .

The game ended 2-2 with Ashley Greenaway netting both Lye goals.

This Saturday Lye will host Wellington at Stourbridge Road.
